Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 Smartphone Reviews. Got a great deal on Wirefly on the Sony Xperia with a 2-year contract with AT&T. Problem is, the phone is the absolute worst functioning, worthless device I've ever had the misfortune of owning. Nothing, I repeat, NOTHING works on it the way it should. Even the camera. You turn it off, turn it back on, and you have to reset all your settings, such as volume, ringtone, contact lists, etc. Not worth bothering with. Battery doesn't hold a charge for a full day without warning you the battery is getting low. It goes in the garbage, I'm getting a new phone. Never, ever again will I buy Sony for cellphone use.
After considering many smart phones in this class and all the carrier non-sense that goes along with these "data-locked' phone contracts from the US Carriers, ATT, T-Mobile, Verizon. Why would you consider a Smartphone that you would like to have the ability to take abroad with you, if you have to pay for a data service that would most likely triple your cellular package rates? The Xperia X10 is a great Smartphone. The Timescape and Media Scape interfaces are really sleek. The 8.1 Mb camera resolution surpasses many of the other 4" display phones in its nearest Smartphone segment. The Android Éclair 2.2 is not as painful or difficult as you would imagine, the PC Companion installer app. Its pre-installed Android 1.6 did have that slick thumb swipe launching mechanism which made the phone more "slick" than the original I-phone slide to open gesture. All you need to do is plug in the USB cable that is supplied which the brand new X1 remember to hold that back key, when connecting the USB to your PC, as with all other Sony-Ericsson's in the past, Its their trade mark procedure. The update is painless really.
Purchasing from Amazon you have the reliability of a trusted seller, middle man agent, therefore you can rest assured that you will receive the product that you worked so hard to be able to have, use. Very nice incorporation of Android Apps.; easy to find, download.
The bad:
- Comes with an old version of Android (1.6) does not exploit all the hardware
- No multitouch (I cannot forgive this on a 2011 phone)
- In call volume VERY LOW , cannot hear the other person in the streets of my noisy city
- No quick response from sony on software upgrades
The good:
- all of the above might be fixed with a software upgrade , but only heavens know when it's gonna be
